KBS Capital Markets Group Adds Michael Zapata as Compliance Officer

Compliance Industry Veteran Will Work with Hans Henselman, Who Was Recently Promoted to KBS-CMG Chief Operating Officer

Newport Beach, Calif. - March 18, 2010: In another sign of growth for the Newport Beach, Calif.-based affiliate of KBS Realty Advisors and KBS Capital Advisors, KBS Capital Markets Group (KBS-CMG) has hired Michael Zapata as compliance officer. The Aliso Viejo, Calif., resident will help KBS-CMG Chief Compliance Officer Hans Henselman, whose role was expanded this year to include chief operating officer, manage the compliance functions associated with the company’s growing family of REIT products.

In his new role, Zapata will conduct day-to-day compliance activities associated with KBS REIT II, as well as KBS Strategic Opportunity REIT and KBS Legacy Partners Apartment REIT.. He will work with Henselman to meet all of the company’s securities regulatory requirements established by the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA).

Zapata joins KBS after more than 11 years with the Irvine, Calif., office of WaMu Investments, Inc., most recently as compliance examiner. In this capacity, he managed the compliance responsibilities of five WaMu Investment regions, instilling a corporate culture of compliance and implementing compliance training for WaMu Investments financial professionals. A graduate of The University of Redlands, Zapata received a bachelor’s degree in business and management. He holds a Life and Health Insurance license and a Property and Casualty Insurance license. He holds the FINRA Series 7, 24, 53 and 63 licenses.
