Founded by Peter Bren and Charles J. KBS Capital Advisors was formed in 2006 as the exclusive advisor for KBS publicly registered, non-traded REITs, which are designed to give individual investors the ability to invest in a similar type of real estate and structured debt as KBS pension fund and institutional partners. These public investment vehicles have included KBS REIT*, which closed its offering period in May 2008, after raising more than $1.7 billion and acquiring more than $3.0 billion in real estate equity and debt. KBS REIT II* was declared effective on April 22, 2008, with a maximum offering size of $2.8 billion. On November 20, 2009, KBS was declared effective for KBS Strategic Opportunity REIT*, with a maximum offering size of $1.38 billion. Additionally, on March 12, 2010, KBS was declared effective for KBS Legacy Partners Apartment REIT*, with a maximum offering size of $2.76 billion.
